My ATS has an MCP server. Do I still need an AI interviewer?
An ATS MCP server and an AI interviewer do different jobs. The MCP server lets your assistant read and, where the vendor allows, update records in your ATS: jobs, applications, statuses. It does not talk to applicants. An AI interviewer does the first-round screen itself. If the bottleneck is that nobody has time to screen every applicant, the MCP server alone does not fix it.
What the ATS MCP server is good for
- Pipeline questions: "How many applicants are in onsite for Sales roles?"
- Reporting: hiring summaries and status roundups.
- Bulk housekeeping within your ATS permissions.
What it does not do
- Talk to candidates or run interviews.
- Score answers against a rubric.
- Check whether the candidate used AI to answer.
What RightMatch adds
Mira, the RightMatch AI interviewer, conducts 5 to 15 minute AI video interviews on day one, scores every answer against your rubric, and returns a ranked shortlist. Built-in fraud detection flags AI-assisted cheating with cited evidence on every flag and a published false positive rate under 0.4%. Results and scorecards sync back to your ATS through 27 native integrations, and the RightMatch connector puts the whole screen in your assistant: rank, interview, read results, move stages.
Use both
Add both connectors to Claude or ChatGPT. Ask your ATS for pipeline numbers; ask RightMatch to screen. Setup: https://rightmatch.app/claude
The connector is included on every plan, including free Starter. A standard AI video interview uses 10 credits when completed. Credits come from your plan, the same as in the app.
Quick answers
Do I need an AI interviewer if my ATS has an MCP server?
An ATS MCP server lets your assistant read and update ATS records but does not interview applicants. If you need every applicant screened, an AI interviewer like RightMatch runs the first-round interview and syncs results back to the ATS.
Can I use my ATS MCP server and RightMatch together?
Yes. Add both as connectors in Claude or ChatGPT. Use the ATS for pipeline questions and RightMatch to interview, score and rank applicants.
What does RightMatch check that an ATS does not?
Interview answers scored against your rubric, and fraud detection for AI-assisted cheating with cited evidence per flag.
